Chlorine Dioxide
Kills bacteria that causes decay (s.mutans), viruses and fungi and most importantly for ortho patients- breaks up biofilm. 

Poloxamer 407
makes all surfaces smoother and prevents plaque from forming on teeth, wires and brackets

Calcium Lactate
is a calcium source for teeth to absorb

Xylitol
helps with remineralization and reduction of decay causing bacteria. Studies have proven xylitol can help with the uptake of calcium when combined with calcium lactate.

In a recent study, Ortho Protect was found to have remarkable results with plaque reduction. This 6 week clinical trial, concluded with Salus Research Inc. compared the effects of brushing alone vs. brushing and rinsing with Ortho Protect. Overall, Ortho Protect was proven to be 440x better than brushing alone. 

Plaque Reduction

 In the study, the control group (brushing alone) saw no improvement in plaque reduction from their initial evaluation.  Whereas, the test group using Ortho Protect in conjunction with brushing saw 22.5% plaque reduction in the whole mouth, 19.3% plaque reduction at the gumline, and 30.7% plaque reduction interproximally. ​
